Le nomination sono state appena annunciate e già si cominciano a formare diversi interrogativi.
Non soffermiamoci a pensare alla classificazione di Get Out – Scappa come commedia, dal momento che quest’ultima pellicola, seppur di genere horror, è più vicina a una satira politica che a un vero e proprio film dell’orrore. Forse sarebbe il caso soffermarci sul motivo per cui All the money in the world di Ridley Scott, il film biografico sul rapimento Getty, fresco dello scandalo che ha coinvolto il protagonista Kevin Spacey per molestie sessuali, (il quale ha costretto a un rimpiazzo della star con l’ottantenne Christopher Plummer), goda di una nomination per ogni categoria maggiore, ma è anche vero che il film, se ottimo come si dice, non dovrebbe subire i danni di una cattiva pubblicità solo a causa degli andamenti morali del proprio protagonista (e, per giunta, severamente punito).
Fa piuttosto impressione il numero e la qualità di possibili nominati esclusi dalla competizione: primi fra tutti i due registi Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird), Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name) e Jordan Peele (Get Out – Scappa) per la regia (e, nel caso di Peele, anche per la sceneggiatura), seguiti da un grande escluso come The Big Sick, unanimamente definita una delle miglior commedie dell’anno con Kumail Nanjiani, ma anche Adam Sandler per The Meyerowitz Stories nella categoria Attore per Commedia e altri ancora, surclassati, per giunta da attori e film finora assolutamente estranei a questa Award Season (alcuni casi salienti sono Ansel Elgort per Baby Driver o Kevin Bacon per I Love Dick). Va bene lo shock factor, ma dato che non è la prima volta che la Hollywood Foreign Press fa di questi numeri, che stiano attenti a non essere presi, da qui in poi, per matti o per bastian contrari.
